HD 26 Key Campaign Issues
There are 6 key areas of focus in this campaign and in the Legislature:
1. State/County/Local Budget Fiscal Responsibility – Biggest issue that will affect all other issues is the 2014-2015 Budget.
- No Personal Income Tax
- “Workout” – More efficient/effective State Government
- Appraisals and Property Taxes – Local issue/State Oversight
- Wise Use of Collected Revenue in a Balanced Budget
2. People Issues
- Education of our Children (43% of the 2012-2013 Budget)
- Veterans and 1st Responders
- Care and Support for the Elderly
- Economy and Jobs Focus for ALL Citizens
- Health and Safety (HHS is 31% of the 2012-2013 Budget)
3. Local Business Development Issues (13.9% of the 2012-2013 Budget)
- Franchise Tax issues
- Small Business Development and Growth
4. Immigration – Legal and Illegal Issues
- Stop Illegal Immigration – Support Legal Immigration
- Enforce Current Laws
5. Local Issues: Mobility, Transportation, Unfunded Mandates and Water
- Mobility/Transportation…build and fund in advance of growth
- Unfunded Mandates to Cities/School Districts/County
- Water Issues (reference the 2012 State Water Plan)
- Tax Structures
6. State Sovereignty
- State Constitution and Laws ONLY – No Foreign Laws
- States Rights over the Federal Government Dictates
